Description
Potney Cottage and Spinney Cottage are two cottages located on Main Street in Bourton, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed of brick with two different types of render and feature thatched roofs with brick ridge stacks. Potney Cottage, situated on the left, has a one-unit plan, while Spinney Cottage has a two-unit plan. Both cottages are one storey with an attic and have a three-window range.
Potney Cottage features a modern glazed door set within a 20th-century porch that has a tiled roof, a late 20th-century bow window, and a 19th-century three-light casement window with a horizontal glazing bar. The cottage also has swept dormers. Spinney Cottage, on the right, includes a thatched brick porch with a half-glazed door and modern two- and three-light casement windows. There is a small whitewashed brick addition on the right side with a tiled roof. The rear of the cottages has undergone late 20th-century alterations. The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are included for their group value.
