Description
The Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located on Newland Lane in Ash Green. It features Flemish bond brickwork and has an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack. The building has a two-unit baffle entry plan that has been extended to form an L-plan. It stands two storeys high and has a two-window range. The front includes a plank door that is now blocked internally, along with old leaded wood casements: three lights on the ground floor and two lights above. All openings are topped with brick segmental arches. The left side of the cottage reveals exposed rafters and a tie beam at the gable, while the right side has a 20th-century bay window. Inside, there are back-to-back open fireplaces, featuring an old chamfered bressumer in the room to the right, along with chamfered ceiling beams. The cottage has late 20th-century additions at the rear.
