Description
Bridge 33, located at SP 3257 9529 on the Coventry Canal, is an accommodation bridge built around 1769 to 1771, with later alterations. It was designed by James Brindley and is constructed of red brick, featuring mid-19th century brindled brick repairs and patching. The bridge has blue brick saddleback copings that end in stone copings. An early 20th-century stone-capped end pier has been added at the south-west corner. The structure includes a single, semi-elliptical arch that spans the canal and towpath, with slightly cambered parapets that curve outwards on plan. This bridge is an example of an early Coventry Canal bridge.
