Description
Grange Road Bridge, located at SP 3317 9489, is a public road bridge built around 1769 to 1771, with later alterations. It was designed by James Brindley and constructed of red brick, featuring later repairs in brindled brick from the 19th century. The bridge has blue brick saddleback parapet copings that end in stone caps, with stone capped end piers at the corners, likely added in the early 20th century. It has a single, semi-elliptical arch that spans the canal and towpath, with slightly cambered parapets that curve outward in plan. This bridge is an example of an early structure on the Coventry Canal.
