Description

Hood Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th to 18th century, with alterations and additions from the 18th to 19th century, and further changes made in the late 20th century. The front and right range at the rear are constructed of brick, while the left range at the rear is made of sandstone rubble. The roofs are covered with plain tiles and feature brick end stacks. The building has a double-depth plan and is one storey with an attic at the front and two storeys at the rear, comprising a two-window range.

A late 20th century timber-framed porch with old brick infill includes a half-glazed door, and there is a straight joint to the left of the porch. The building has 20th century three-light casements set under brick segmental arches, and the dormers also have late 20th century three-light casements. Throughout the building, horizontal glazing bars are present. The left return side has part of the wall rebuilt in mid to late 20th century brick. The rear features two gables, with the left range having two-light casements and an end stack, while the right range has three-light casements under brick segmental arches. The casements throughout have horizontal glazing bars. Inside, the room behind and to the right of the porch is noted for having a large chamfered beam and post, as well as an altered open fireplace.
