Description

Blabers Hall Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed of squared sandstone that is irregularly coursed and set on a plinth. It features plain-tiled, hipped roofs with coved eaves cornices made of sandstone and internal stacks of red brick. The building has a double-pile plan and two principal storeys.

The south-facing front has three window bays, each with three-light casements set under flat arches of dressed sandstone that include raised keyblocks. The central doorway, which is now glazed and partially blocked, also has a similar arch and is topped by a 20th-century gable hood. The west-facing front mirrors the window arrangement, but the three-light casements retain their original mullions. The central doorway on this side is beneath an original flat wood canopy supported by large shaped sandstone brackets, and the door itself is made of vertical and horizontal boards featuring original ironwork.

Inside, there is a closed string staircase from the mid-18th century, characterized by column balusters and a toads-back rail. The farmhouse includes plaster floors in two cheese rooms, one located in the attic and the other on the first floor. Most attic rooms are illuminated by old roof lights, except for the cheese attic, which has windows at floor height. Additionally, part of the house has a cellar, with cellar lights that feature reused ovolo-moulded mullions in the windows.
