Description
The stable block at Colliers Oak Farm dates from 1611 and the mid-16th century. It features three courses of squared sandstone, inscribed with the year 1611, set on a plinth with a moulded edge. The upper walls are constructed of red brick from the 18th century. The building has a plain-tiled roof with gable end ball finials made of stone. It is two storeys high, with a pitch opening on the first floor and ground floor openings beneath segmental arches, including a stable doorway with a split door and fixed iron casements. The south gable end displays corbelled brickwork and a band at the eaves height. Inside, there are partitions for two stalls, and the roof is of upper cruck construction, with the blades linked by a yoke and supported by the main ceiling beams. The initials TSMS are inscribed on the sandstone, which also appear in the roof of Colliers Oak Farmhouse.
