Description
Nos. 6, 8, 10, 10A, and 12 on Market Street in Atherstone are a row of houses that have mostly been converted into shops. They date from the early 19th century and are built of Flemish bond brick, featuring a moulded wood cornice. No. 6, located on the left, has been rendered in the 20th century. The roofs are slate, although No. 8 has 20th-century interlocking tiles. The building has a double-depth plan and consists of three storeys with a six-window range.
No. 6 features a late 20th-century shop front. No. 8 has a late 20th-century six-panelled door with a moulded wood surround and pediment, along with a late 20th-century top-hung window with a flat arch to the left. No. 10 also has a late 20th-century shop front. No. 10A includes a 20th-century glazed door and overlight, but retains an old moulded wood frame and original flat arch. No. 12 has a late 20th-century full-width shop front. The upper floors across the row have late 20th-century top-hung sashes and windows, with No. 12 featuring a sash window and a six-pane sash on the second floor. The buildings have rendered rusticated flat arches with keyblocks throughout. The interiors have not been inspected.
