Description
The Atherstone Ex-Servicemen's Club is a house that has been converted into a club, forming part of a row of buildings and dating from around 1830. It features colourwashed stucco with moulded string courses, pilasters, a cornice, and a parapet. The roof is covered with plain tiles and there are no visible chimneys. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a five-window range. The giant pilasters are decorated with incised Grecian ornament. The third bay includes a Tuscan doorcase with half-columns, adorned with paterae above the capitals and an open pediment. It has a fanlight and recessed late 20th-century double-leaf doors. To the right, there is a mid to late 19th-century doorway leading to a passage, featuring a fluted wood surround that is cut into the right pilaster. The windows are mostly mid to late 20th-century top-hung and centre-hung, set within shallow segmental-arched openings. The fourth bay on the ground floor has a wider window with a panelled centre. The interior has not been inspected.
