Description
The dovecote, located approximately 75 metres north-northwest of Blyth Hall, dates back to 1704. It is constructed of red brick in a mainly Flemish bond pattern and features a hipped, plain-tiled roof that includes a landing stage and a weathervane. The structure has a rectangular plan and consists of two storeys, with a doorway that has a boarded door. The interior is believed to be intact. To the west of the dovecote is an enclosure for mastiffs, also dating from around 1704, made of red brick with stone coping. The south end of this enclosure has been partly repaired, and it includes openings with iron gates in both the north and south walls. This information is sourced from Sir William Dugdale.
