Description
Mill House is a house associated with Blyth watermill, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain-tiled, steeply pitched roof with two red brick ridge stacks. The main range runs north-south, with a service wing extending to the east at the front. The building has one storey and an attic, with two gable dormers on the first floor. On the ground floor, there are three flush frame small-pane casements from the 20th century, and a doorway leading to a passage at the rear of the stack, framed by a moulded wood doorcase. The door, dating from the 19th or 20th century, has two glazed panels and is sheltered by a 19th-century lattice work porch. The brickwork of the first and rear walls shows straight joints. The service wing to the east includes a cellar, a first floor, and a loft, with one 19th-century casement in the gable end. An external staircase with a dog-leg plan and sandstone treads leads to a doorway with a boarded door.
