Description

The retaining wall forming part of the dam of Merevale Lake was built around 1833. It is constructed of purple brick and features a dentil cornice. The wall has an arch that rises to approximately 3 metres at its center and is also curved. There are three round-arched openings: the tall central opening serves as a tunnel that contains the screw mechanism of a plug for the lake, while smaller openings on either side function as water outlets. This information is sourced from Sir William Dugdale.
