Description

This monument, built in 1838, is located approximately 48 meters northwest of the tower of the Church of St. Editha in Tamworth. It is made of ashlar and features an obelisk on a square plinth, with slate tablets on its sides. The monument commemorates six female servants who tragically died in a fire at the Castle Hotel: Mary Ann Smith, Mary Ann Booth, Mary Garner, Mary Chatterton, Harriet Bonner, and Harriet Bushnell. It was erected by the inhabitants of Tamworth.
