Description
This is a house, later used as an office, built around 1780. It is located on Bolebridge Street, Tamworth. The house is constructed of brick with a tile roof and prominent brick end stacks. It follows a double-depth plan and is in the Georgian style, with three storeys and a four-window front. A blue brick plinth runs along the base, and a deep top cornice and parapet are present, with coped gables. The entrance on the left is marked by a doorcase featuring panelled pilasters, an entablature, decorative blocks, and an open pediment. Above the door is a fanlight with radial glazing bars. To the right end is an elliptical-headed carriage entrance with paired plank doors. The ground-floor windows have sills and rubbed brick flat arches over 16-pane sashes. The first-floor windows alternate between 16-pane and 12-pane sashes, and the second-floor windows alternate between 8-pane and 6-pane sashes. A gabled wing at the rear has a return entrance with an overlight featuring decorative glazing bars above a six-panel door. Inside, a dog-leg staircase has an open string and stick balusters. The building is of group value.
