Description
Lower Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has undergone alterations and additions in the late 19th century. It features a timber frame that is now partly rendered, standing on a sandstone plinth. The roof is banded tile with crested ridge tiles, and there is a ridge stack with four circular shafts located to the left of center above the entrance, along with a 20th-century end stack to the right. The building is single storey with an attic and has a three-window front, which includes two- and three-light casements. The large timber-framed gabled dormers, which have diagonal bracing, are adorned with barge boards and prominent finials. There is a similar gabled porch positioned to the left of center, featuring a late 19th-century part-glazed door. The end gable walls showcase 17th-century timberwork with heavy, closely-set diagonal bracing and large corbel brackets supporting the canted gables, which are rendered.
