Description

No. 55 High Street is a shop building dating from the early 19th century, although its shopfront has been largely rebuilt in the 20th century. The building features painted rendered brickwork and a slate roof. It is three stories tall with a single window front, which includes glazing bar sashes. There is a cornice above the modern plate glass shopfront and a central entrance. This property forms a group with Nos. 2, 4, and 6 Cross Street, creating a cohesive architectural unit, which is why it has been included for its group value.
