Description

The building consists of almshouses, a boundary wall, and railings, located approximately 100 meters north of Biddulph Grange. They were constructed in the mid-19th century and are made of red brick featuring polychrome brickwork friezes, with stone quoins and dressings. The roof is tiled with a patterned design and includes verge parapets on shaped kneelers, as well as brick side and ridge stacks.

The front of the almshouses is symmetrical, featuring flanking and a central gable, with the center being two stories high and connected by single-storey set-back links. The windows are stone-dressed, with single lights at the apices and a prominent five-light stone-mullion-and-transom window on the first floor of the central gable. Each flanking gable has a single three-light stone-mullioned window, and the links have boarded entrances at their outer ends, along with an additional door in the center gable.

The boundary wall to the south includes a break to the left that features a Tudor-arch entrance. To the right end, there is a pyramidal capped pier with rough-faced panels, which flanks the railings to the east. The railings are made of spearhead cast iron and are set on a plinth.
