Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century house located on Church Lane in Ipstones. The house is constructed of ashlar, featuring moulded window surrounds, raised quoins, a tiled roof with a raised eaves band, verge parapets, and end stacks. It has a three-story, three-window front. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with the lower windows of the top floor being smaller than those below. The first floor features moulded surrounds and raised keystones, incorporating a large central Serlian window, without a corresponding window above on the top floor. A pedimented surround with a miniature dentil course is present on the ground floor right-hand window. A three-sided flat-roofed bay window extends from the left side of the building. The central entrance is marked by a pilastered surround and a pediment with a pulvinated frieze, and contains double boarded 20th-century doors equipped with mock strap hinges. While previously attributed to the mid-18th century, comparisons with other dated buildings in the area suggest a later construction date.
