Description
The Barnfields Canal Aqueduct, built in 1801 by engineer John Rennie, is a significant structure made of coursed and squared stone. It features retaining walls and an arch that curves in both directions, along with a stepped parapet, a plain string course, and rusticated voussoirs on the arch. This aqueduct originally carried the Caldon Canal over the River Churnet into the Leek Canal basin.
