Description
The entrance piers to Ashenhurst, dating from the mid-19th century, are a pair of sandstone structures designed in the Baroque style. Each pier is cruciform in plan, standing 4 meters high and positioned approximately 12 meters apart. They feature a moulded plinth leading to chamfered ashlar, which is topped with a moulded string adorned with low-relief strapwork patterns. The piers have consoles that transition into a square plan, which is coved out to a moulded square surbase, each capped with raised ball finials.
