Description
The Egg Well is a well housing and surround dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It features a 20th-century brick enclosure with a flat roof, surrounding a rectangular well made of stone slabs. There are two steps leading down to an oval-shaped well hole. The back of the surround is inscribed with the words "RENIBUS ET SPLENI . ...... LECORIQUE MEDETUR/MILLE MALIS PRODEST IFRA SALUBRIS AQUA". Additionally, there is incised crossed scrollwork on the sides of the well.
