Description

The left half of Dixons Lloyds Chemist, located at 35A Gaolgate Street, is a house that has been converted into shops. It dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of stuccoed brick with a tile roof, forming an L-plan. The building stands two storeys high and features a four-window range. The traditional style shopfront includes windows with round-headed plate-glass panes, a fascia, and a cornice, along with a part of a late 20th-century shopfront to the right. On the first floor, there are quoin strips and a top cornice, with tall architraved windows that have cornices and 6/1-pane sashes, which were probably originally 6/9-pane.
