Description
Standon Hall, now part of Standon Hall Orthopaedic Hospital, is a large former mansion built between 1910 and 1911, designed by architect J Francis Doyle from Liverpool. The building is set back from the road within its grounds and is constructed in the Tudor style, featuring an L-shaped plan. It is made of sandstone ashlar and has two and three storeys. The exterior includes mullioned and transomed windows, a pointed arched doorway with a vaulted porch, and a stone slate roof with stone stacks. Inside, there is a notable Adam style fireplace in the former drawing room on the east side of the entrance, as well as a Jacobean overmantel that has been re-used in the room to the left of the entrance.
