Description

Rockmount is a house built around 1840, featuring a stucco exterior that mimics ashlar stone, with a painted brick rear wing. The property has a slate roof with two spans and gabled ends, adorned with ornate pierced bargeboards. The chimney stacks are also stuccoed, topped with cornices and square yellow clay pots.

The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with three windows. The two gables display ornate pierced bargeboards and pendants. The central entrance is recessed and features a moulded string above a moulded four-centred arch doorway, which contains panelled and glazed double doors along with a fanlight. The windows are fitted with hoodmoulds, with the central first-floor sash having glazing bars and margin panes, while the sashes on either side are blind.

To the right, there is a two-window return with sashes that have glazing bars and hoodmoulds, and a French casement on the ground floor. The left return has three windows and two French casements on the ground floor, all with hoodmoulds. A panelled and glazed door is located at the rear, and the rear wing features multi-pane cast-iron windows.

Although the interior has not been inspected, it is believed to retain original features. Rockmount is a notable example of an early Victorian stuccoed villa, showcasing many of its original characteristics.
