Description
White Cross House is a farmhouse, now a house, built in 1736. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof and features brick integral end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan with a short wing at the rear, standing two storeys tall with an attic. It has five bays, with casement windows that have segmental heads and three gabled attic dormers. The central gabled porch, added around 1900, includes a 20th-century door and a rectangular overlight.
Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters, stop-chamfered spine beams, and panelled oak window shutters. Several original doors remain, including those to the attic rooms, which are made of horizontal planks fixed to vertical planks. In the front garden, there is a datestone from 1736 that was recently removed from the front of the house.
