Description

Orton Grange is a farmhouse dating to circa 1800, with a probable early 17th-century crosswing that was altered and dated 1685, and 20th-century additions to the rear. The main house is constructed of brick, while the crosswing is timber-framed and both are rendered with roughcast. The roof is covered with plain tiles, with a brick integral end stack to the main house and a brick lateral stack to the crosswing, the latter featuring four lozenge-section shafts.

The main house is positioned to the left and is slightly lower than the gabled crosswing to the right. The main house has three storeys, with reduced proportions on the second floor, and features dentilled eaves. It has three bays with 16-pane glazing bar sashes, each with a segmental head. The central doorway has reeded pilasters, a broken pediment, and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars.

The crosswing is two storeys and has an attic, with two ground-floor windows and one to the first floor on the right side. It also has glazing bar sashes. A central attic casement has a segmental head and a datestone inscribed "I.M. / 1685". Single-storey, single-bay lean-to extensions are located to the left and right. The interior was not inspected.
