Description
The coach house and stables at Hales Farmhouse date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of red brick with stone hinge blocks and feature a plain tile roof. The building has two levels, with the upper level ventilated by a lozenge pattern of perforated brickwork, while two additional patterns to the right are blocked, and the left-hand one is X-shaped. On the ground floor, there are two large entries, with the right-hand entry featuring an elliptical arch. To the right of this entry, there is a stable door flanked by windows. The south gable end has a double flight of stone steps leading to the gable entry. Inside, the building has a four-bay roof, one brick partition wall, and two King-post trusses with cambered tie beams. The loft was originally used as a granary and was later used for Band of Hope meetings.
