Description
The north portal of the Harecastle Railway Tunnel (south) is a rail tunnel portal built in 1848 for the North Staffordshire Railway. It is constructed from engineering brick in English Bond and features a semi-elliptical arch with a rusticated surround made of hammer dressed ashlar. This arch is framed by wide pilaster buttresses and topped with a low brick parapet.
