Description
No. 9 Sandford Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It likely dates from the late 18th century, although it features earlier internal timber framing. The front of the building was rebuilt in the late 20th century. It is constructed of brick with plastered returns and some timber framing, topped with a tiled roof and a brick chimney stack. The building is in an L-plan and consists of two storeys with an attic, featuring a two-window range.
The exterior includes a plaster plinth and a platt band above the ground floor, along with a top timber fascia. The entrance is located at the left end and has a simple doorcase with a cornice and a six-panel door. The windows have sills and brick flat arches, containing 12-pane horned sashes with moulded frames. There is also a raking dormer with a four-light small-paned casement. The rear of the building is similar in style and includes a cross-axial stack.
