SK 10 NW SWINFEN AND PACKINGTON C.P. 6/100 Balustrade and garden wall running approx. l00m N.E. of the garden front of Swinfen Hall

GV II

Garden walls and balustrade. Late C19. Stone coped brick retaining wall (invisible from the south) approx. lm high and 150m long which is finished both ends by Portland stone balustraded parapet of quarter round plan flanked by solid stone dies. The retaining wall runs the complete length of the garden front of Swinfen Hall (q.v.) including the C19 addition, and in fact extends beyond to the north, suggesting that a further wing of equal size was intended. Included for group value.
