Description
The balustrade and garden wall, dating from the late 19th century, are located approximately 100 meters northeast of the garden front of Swinfen Hall. This structure features a stone-coped brick retaining wall that is about 1 meter high and 150 meters long, which is not visible from the south. The wall is finished at both ends with a Portland stone balustraded parapet that has a quarter round plan, flanked by solid stone dies. The retaining wall runs the full length of the garden front of Swinfen Hall, including the 19th-century addition, and extends further to the north, indicating that a larger wing may have been planned. This structure is included for its group value.
