Description
Freeford Hall is a country house with an early 18th-century core and early to late 19th-century additions. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features hipped tiled roofs that are set behind a blocking course and cornice, with central stacks. The building has a large square 'O'-shaped plan surrounding an open court, although only the center of the front is from the 18th century.
The front elevation consists of two storeys and attics, with five windows featuring glazing bar sashes and painted wedged heads. The outer bays are additions that are slightly set back from the central block. The central block displays keystones and aprons on the windows, pilaster strips that interrupt the cornice between the bays, and a small central pediment adorned with dentils and a lunette in the tympanum, with additional lunettes on the flanking bays.
There is a central two-storey porch from the late 19th century, which has stone quoins and rusticated facing on the ground floor, a moulded window surround, a cornice, and a coat of arms finial. Pilaster strips flank the segmental-headed entrance, which features set back part-glazed doors. To the south, there is an additional front with six windows arranged in a 2:2:2 pattern, a central recess, and a wrought iron canopy.
