Description
Nos 12-20 on Brook End is a house that has been divided, dating from the mid to late 16th century with later alterations and additions. It features a timber frame with some brick replacement and extensions, topped with a plain tile roof and a brick ridge stack in English bond. The house has a baffle-entry plan, aligned north-south and facing west, with an extension wing to the south that is aligned east-west. It is two storeys tall with close studded framing that reaches a full storey in height. The front is slightly irregular with three windows, featuring 19th-century casements. There are 20th-century doors located to the left, right, and left of centre, with the latter positioned directly in front of the stack. To the right, there is a gabled extension wing with a roof that catslides over a projection on the right-hand return. The left gable of the main house displays exposed framing consisting of four square panels up to eaves level, along with a collar and tie beam roof truss featuring herringbone pattern framing. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
