Description
32 and 34 Bird Street are two shops built around 1800, featuring brick construction with stucco dressings and a tile roof that has a brick end stack. Designed in the Georgian style, the building stands three stories tall and has a three-window range. It includes a top frieze, cornice, and parapet. The shop fronts were updated in the 20th century. The first floor has windows with sills and rubbed brick flat arches above 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor features sills with one 6-pane sash window and two casement windows. The left side of the building was constructed after the demolition of an adjacent structure in 1976 and incorporates a mosaic of Dr. Johnson by J. Myatt. The rear of the building has two gabled wings, one of which has been extensively rebuilt.
