Description
No. 25 Bird Street is a shop building dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a tile roof with a brick end stack. The building is designed in the Georgian style and stands three storeys high with a two-window range. At the top, there is a timber cornice.
The shop front, which dates from the late 19th century, includes a consoled fascia and a recessed entrance. The entrance, located at the left end, has a stop-chamfered lintel and an overlight above a four-panel door. The upper windows are adorned with rubbed brick flat arches, with 12-pane sashes on the first floor and 6-pane sashes on the second floor. Above the first floor, timber panels feature enriched 19th-century lettering that reads: 'F.M. & J. WAIT/ CABINET MAKERS, UPHOLSTERERS, UNDERTAKERS, &c'.
On the left return of the building, there is a downspout that runs from the returned cornice down to the gutter of No. 23. At the rear, there is an attached stable range belonging to the King's Head Inn.
