Description
The Thatched Cottage is a cottage with a 17th-century core that was refaced in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and has a reed thatch roof with end stacks. The building is a single storey with an attic and features a three-window front. The ground floor has 19th-century segmental-arch casements, while the first floor has 20th-century replacements. A thatched swept dormer is located at the center, and the eaves and ridge line are raised on the right-hand bay, which is a later addition. The right-hand window has a gable with cusped barge boards. There is also a gabled single-storey porch from the 20th century to the right of the center window, featuring double boarded doors.
Inside, the cottage has timber-framed cross walls in the center chamber, with large panels and a heavy spine beam above. The cottage is situated in a prominent position in the village center.
