Description
Burton Mill is an early 19th-century mill and malthouse located on Newton Road in Winshill. The building is constructed of red brick and stands three storeys high, featuring casement windows that typically have cast iron lights. It incorporates remnants of the corn mill from Burton Abbey, including late medieval masonry, a two-light stone mullioned window, and a doorway with a blocked segmental head and a heavy iron-studded door. The gabled ends are stone-coped, and the roof is tiled. Notably, there are two fire insurance plates on the first storey and a small stone tablet that is inscribed with the date of rebuilding, which is 1745.
