13/89 - Main gateway to Blithfield Hall with flanking walls
GV II*
Gateway and walls. c.1820. Brick, plastered and lined as ashlar. 4-centred gateway arch with nail studded doors, panelled spandrels and hood mould terminating in heads, moulded string above to crenellated parapet between 2 octagonal corner turrets with pseudo machicolated battlements; flanked by short lengths of battlemented wall each terminating with a battlemented octagonal turret, the right hand one adjoining the screen wall to the kitchen courtyard (q.v. under courtyard walls and outbuildings east of Blithfield Hall) the left hand one adjoined by a low crenellated and buttressed wall sloping down to join the south wall of the outer courtyard (q.v. under Bridge, gate piers, wall and ha-ha to south of Blithfield Hall).
