Description

The water tower, located about 100 meters behind the offices of Bass's Brewery, dates from 1866 and was formerly part of Bass's Old Brewery. It is a large structure made of red brick, rectangular in shape, and rises in five stages. The tower features stone stringcourses and has a semi-circular headed window with triple arched lights on each stage, except for the topmost stage, which has blind arches. This stage is adorned with a stone corbelled cornice and a stepped parapet that includes a tablet inscribed with the date of construction. There is a deeply recessed arched doorway on the west side.
