Description
The Offices of Bass's Brewery, built around 1880, are located on the east side of High Street. This building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a restrained Tudor style, similar to the nearby No. 136. It has two storeys and an extensive range with gabled bays, three of which slightly project. The façade includes two sets of two-light windows in moulded stone architraves with mullions and transoms, and a moulded stone stringcourse at the first floor. The building has a stone plinth and quoins at all corners.
On the left side, there is a doorway in the first bay with a deeply moulded stone surround featuring a 4-centred arched head, a plain fanlight, and a six-panelled divided door. Above the doorway is the Royal Arms. To the right, a four-windowed twin-gabled bay is connected to the main block by a single-storey two-window wing, which has a doorway on the right with a plain stone surround, a rectangular fanlight, and a six-panelled divided door. The gables are stone-coped and generally topped with obelisk finials.
