Description
79 High Green is a building that likely dates back to the 16th century. It features painted brick covering an earlier timber frame and consists of two storeys plus an attic. The front of the building has a slightly advanced gabled wing on each side and three modern windows overall. A stone chimney projects from the returned side towards Newhall Street, topped with a later brick stack. The gables are adorned with modern scalloped barge-boards, and the roof is tiled. The building also has modern shop fronts. Internally, some of the original roof truss and framing are exposed. This building is part of a group that includes numbers 71 to 79 (odd) and the National Westminster.
