Description

The former water mill south of Madeley Court dates from the 17th century and was built by Sir Basil Brooke. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, featuring stone quoins, mullion windows, and lintels. The building is two stories tall and has about five bays. On the first floor, there are three 2-light windows above various openings on the ground floor. The roof is steeply pitched and gable-ended, clad in corrugated iron, although the central part of the roof has collapsed. At the rear, there are ashlar and brick gabled wings. The mill pool has been covered by a large spoil tip to the southwest.
