Description
The gatehouse and bridge located immediately north-east of Orleton Hall is a late 16th-century timber-framed structure that was altered in the 18th century. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The ground storey is constructed of red brick, while the first storey features timber framing with brick infill. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has gabled ends.
At the centre, there is a segmental vaulted carriageway that includes keystones and imposts. The gatehouse has central gabled dormers, each containing a gothic window with Y-tracery and a clock face, along with an oval window below. A cupola is positioned over the centre of the building. There are two brick ridge chimney stacks, which have stone tablets dated 1588 and 1766.
Adjoining the gatehouse is a bridge over a moat, which is made of stone and features two small arched spans. The moat itself is only a short section.
