Description
The remains of Blists Hill Ironworks, possibly established in the mid to late 18th century, were last used at the end of the 19th century. The furnaces are set into a bank and feature stone retaining walls and pointed brick arches. Large stone and brick foundations are all that remain in front of the site. The ironworks are flanked by an engine house at each end. The north engine house has round-headed windows, a hipped roof, and contains the engine, while the south engine house has a gable-ended roof and the engine has been removed.
