Description
Hay House Farmhouse is a house dating from around the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed of brick, with the main elevations covered in roughcast. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles. The building has two storeys and features five bays, with the left and right-hand bays projecting. The windows are arranged in a pattern of 1:3:2 and are sashes with glazing bars, featuring voussoired heads with keyblocks. There is a central modern glazed door and a modern conservatory across the recess. A side doorway has a wooden trellis porch and a panelled door. A notable feature of the farmhouse is the large brick chimney stacks, which have blind round-headed arcading. Inside, there are panelled rooms from around 1700 that include chimneypieces. John Rose, the founder of the Coalport Chinaworks, lived in this house.
