Description

Rose Cottage is a long, timber-framed range dating to 1642, said to have been built by nailers. It has painted brick infill panels and a steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends. The building is one storey high with an attic. It has a five-window front, featuring two and three-light casement windows. Four gabled dormers are present, two with iron frame windows – one round-headed, the other segmental-headed. The right-hand bay has a jettied gable, a dripmould, and the date 1642 carved above the first-floor window. Two single-storey brick lean-tos extend from the front, and a stone gabled wing is also present. Brick ridge stacks rise from the roof, and there's an external stone stack at the north end. The cottage was formerly known as Boring Mill.
