Description
The Coalbrookdale Institute, now the premises of the Youth Hostels Association, is a large, plain building constructed in 1859. It is made of burnt brick with yellow brick dressings and features a slated mansard roof that includes three flat-headed dormers. The building is two stories high and has seven windows, which are two-light wood casements with rectangular drip moulds. The end bays and the central bay project slightly from the main facade. A central porch made of yellow brick has a depressed pointed-arch opening, with a circular window above it. To the left, there is a gabled two-story wing with one window, designed in a similar style.
