Description
The Former Fountain Place Works is a grade II listed building located in Burslem, Stoke on Trent. Built in 1789 for the potter Enoch Wood, this former pot bank features a brick construction with tiled roofs and stands three stories tall. The main entrance is situated in a pedimented bay at the corner, flanked by additional ranges to the west and north.
The ground floor of the corner section has an inserted shop front with a large display window set within a moulded architrave, while above it is a tripartite window supported by Doric pilasters. The building is topped with a dentilled pediment that may have originally displayed a date. The western range, dating from the late 19th century, includes a shop front with seven bays, and the windows throughout are sash-type with stone sills and flat-arched heads featuring incised voussoirs. The northern range has nine bays with inserted windows on the ground floor. This building reflects the historical significance of Enoch Wood's pottery works.
