Description
The gatehouse to Sundorne Castle is an early 19th-century structure made of red brick. It features a flat roof that is hidden behind crenellated parapets and has a square plan with octagonal angle turrets. The building stands two stories tall, with the turrets extending an additional story. There is a raised string course below the parapet, a central three-light mullion window in a Tudor arch on the first floor, and slit windows in the towers. The central entrance is a Tudor-arch carriageway. Both the north and south elevations are similar in design. Inside, the ceiling of the carriageway is supported by deep plain beams. This gatehouse is part of the romantic setting for Sundorne Castle, which has since been demolished.
