Description
The screen wall and tower on the south side of the Sundorne Castle site date from the early 19th century and are constructed of red brick. The screen wall connects the chapel to the west with the gatehouse to the east. It stands approximately 4 meters high and consists of 8 bays, which are divided by three-stage buttresses. The eastern three bays are slightly lower, and originally the wall was crenellated, though only four bays of this feature remain.
To the west of the center, there is a tower that slightly interrupts the wall's frontage. This tower has a small rectangular plan set to the north and is taller than the wall. It is two storeys high and includes a stair turret on the north-west side. The tower is also crenellated and has a flat roof. The south side features a single range of labeled windows, which consist of three Tudor-arched lights, with all inner sides having single lights.
