Description
Upper House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 19th century, with a core that likely dates back to the late 16th century. It features a red brick exterior that incorporates a timber-framed core, probably constructed using cruck techniques, and has a plain tile roof. The building consists of three bays and is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic.
The façade has an irregular arrangement of three windows, which include three-light segmental-headed wooden casements, and a central blind window on the first floor. The entrance features a half-glazed door that is positioned off-centre between the first and second windows on the right, complete with a rectangular overlight and a doorcase adorned with fluted pilaster strips, a frieze, and a dentil cornice. There is also a late 19th-century gabled timber-framed porch.
Inside, the foot of a possible cruck is visible in the wall between the centre and right-hand bays. The centre bay contains a 16th-century chamfered beam with broach stops, along with a large open fireplace that has an early 19th-century panelled surround and a moulded cornice.
